Chili Orange Country Style Ribs Recipe

Country Style pork ribs are a favorite meal in our house.  I mean what could be better than tender pork falling off the bone infused with delicious BBQ flavor.

Country-style pork ribs are actually not ribs at all.  They are part of the pork shoulder and cut into long strips, either bone-in or boneless.  We love to eat country-style ribs prepared in the crockpot over low heat for 6-8 hours as that makes them fork-tender and delicious.

You can also cook over low heat in the oven or grill, but if you plan to grill your ribs, you should either boil the ribs first or cook in the oven over low heat before grilling so that they can get cooked all the way through properly so that they are tender, not tough.

Safeway has country-style ribs value packs on sale for $1.49/lb right now with a Just for U Digital coupon through February 2nd,  so this is a great time to buy a couple of packs and try a new recipe for these ribs.

Normally $3.49/lb, you’ll save $2/lb. on ribs with this sale!

The original recipe from Safeway calls for boiling the ribs for 45 minutes, then grilling the ribs.  I made this recipe in the crockpot by simply combining all the ingredients and cooking on low for 8 hours.  I did first spray the crockpot with cooking spray to prevent the hoisin and chili sauce from sticking.  I skipped the grill and the ribs were amazing!

Moist, tender and so flavorful!  My kids and husband devoured them and asked for more.  If you want to do the boil and grill method, follow the steps below.

Chili Orange Country Style Ribs Recipe

Ingredients:

Directions

Place the ribs in a 4 to 5-quart Dutch oven. Add apple juice and cover. Bring mixture to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer 45 minutes or until tender.

Combine the chili sauce, hoisin sauce, orange rind, sriracha sauce, and brown sugar in a small bowl.

Prepare a medium-hot fire in a charcoal grill or preheat a gas grill to medium-high.

Remove ribs from the Dutch oven and pat dry. Place ribs on grill and grill over medium-hot fire for 8 to 10 minutes or until glazed, turning once, and brushing with sauce.
