Safeway Chicken Street Taco Kits
It’s Taco Tuesday! Celebrate by picking up a fabulous new Chicken Street Taco Kit available at Safeway. Forgot the take out, stop by your local store and pick up the new street taco kits complete with everything you need to enjoy 6 fabulous chicken tacos!
The Street Taco Kit comes with 6 tortillas, seasoned, cooked and cubed chicken, shredded cheese, slaw, limes, salsa, and a delicious chipotle crema. You’ll find this either in the refrigerated deli cases or in a refrigerated case with the guacamole, queso, and salsas near the produce section.
At $7.99, the street taco kit can feed 2-3 people, depending on how many tacos each person consumes and has a cost per serving of just $2.66 per person (for 3 2 taco servings). I picked up a Street Taco Kit and my 3 kiddos and they each got 2 soft tacos and were sufficiently full.
The street taco kit is made fresh in-store daily, in the Safeway deli. The chicken is perfectly seasoned with paprika, cumin, cayenne pepper, salt, onion powder, garlic powder, and lime juice flavoring. The roasted tomato salsa is divine – full of garlic with just a touch of heat and the chipotle crema was a family favorite with garlic, chipotle peppers in adobo and cilantro, everyone loved it!
The taco kits are regularly $9.99, so you save $2.00 on each kit with the sale.

How to Prepare the Street Taco Kits
To Prepare the Street Taco Kits, simply remove the chicken and tortillas from the plastic box and heat. I found that adding a slightly damp white paper towel to cover the chicken in the microwave for 60 seconds was a perfect time. I then used a slightly damp paper towel over the tortillas for 20 seconds in the microwave and they were perfectly warm. Alternatively, you can toast the tortillas in a pan over medium-high heat so that they get slightly charred.
Assemble the tacos in the corn tortillas with a layer of chicken, a layer of cheese, a layer of slaw and top with salsa, chipotle crema, and a squeeze of lime juice and enjoy!
The only thing missing for me is fresh avocado – but you can easily pick one up and slice it to add to your tacos on your own!
