Homemade Granola


  • 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup sliced almonds may use pecans or walnuts
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup raisins or dried cherries
  • 1/2 cup dried apples
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries


  1. Combine the butter, brown sugar and honey in a sauce pan. Heat over medium heat just until the butter is melted and the sugar has dissolved.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the oats, apples, almonds and cinnamon together
  3. Fold the meted sugar and oats mixture together until the oats are well coated
  4. On a sheet pan, covered with a parchment paper spread the oats and almonds evenly no more than1/2 inch thick.
  5. Bake the granola in a pre-heated 350 degree oven for 10-15 minutes or until well toasted. Stir the granola several times to cook evenly.
  6. Remove from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes then add the raisins and dried cranberries and stir well to incorporate
