Preheat the oven to 350-degrees. Line the bottom of a 9x5 inch loaf pan with wax paper and grease with butter or non-stick baking spray.
With an electric mixer, cream the butter and sugar together until it's light and fluffy.
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well.
Sift the all-purpose flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt over the bowl with the butter and eggs. Stir to blend.
Stir in the whole wheat flour
With a fork, mash the bananas to a puree, then stir the nanas into the batter. Add the vanilla and pecans and stir.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread until level.
Bake for 50 to 60 minutes until golden brown. Test for doneness by inserting a clean knife into the center and if it comes out clean, the bread is done. Let the bread stand for 10 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
