Ingredients

Apple Filling

  • 6 granny smith apples
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Topping

  • 1 cup old fashioned oats
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup honey nut granola
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted

For Serving:

  • vanilla ice cream
  • caramel sauce

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350° F.
  • Peel the apples and cut into 1/2 inch cubes
  • Place the apples in a large bowl.  Sprinkle with granulated sugar, flour, cinnamon and lemon juice.  Stir until incorporated.
  • In a separate bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, baking powder, granola, cinnamon, and melted butter.  Mix thoroughly until clumps form.
  • Place the apples in an 8.5 x 11 baking dish.  Top with the crumble mixture and spread until it evenly coats the apples.
  • Bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream and warm drizzled caramel sauce.
