Instructions
Make the custard in a medium bowl by whisking the egg, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and apple butter.
Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in the skillet.
Dip the bread into the custard, saturating both sides, then place the bread into the hot skillet. Cook the French toast for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and toasted.
In a separate skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter and add the diced apples. Top with ground cinnamon and stir to coat. Cook the apples for about 5 minutes until golden and caramelized.
Plate the French Toast, top with a dollop of apple butter and the caramelized apples. Garnish with powdered sugar if desired.
