Homemade Granola

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup sliced almonds may use pecans or walnuts
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup raisins or dried cherries
  • 1/2 cup dried apples
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries

Instructions

  • Combine the butter, brown sugar and honey in a sauce pan. Heat over medium heat just until the butter is melted and the sugar has dissolved.
  • In a large bowl, mix the oats, apples, almonds and cinnamon together
  • Fold the meted sugar and oats mixture together until the oats are well coated
  • On a sheet pan, covered with a parchment paper spread the oats and almonds evenly no more than1/2 inch thick.
  • Bake the granola in a pre-heated 350 degree oven for 10-15 minutes or until well toasted. Stir the granola several times to cook evenly.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes then add the raisins and dried cranberries and stir well to incorporate

note: store in an air tight container in a dry place .
