Homemade Beef Stroganoff Recipe

Savory beef cooked in a creamy mushroom sauce in the crockpot makes this delicious homemade beef stroganoff a staple recipe for the fall!

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 lbs beef chuck roast cut into 1 inch cubes
  • 1/2 cup dry red wine broth can be substituted for the wine
  • 1 1/2 cups sour cream
  • 1 lb mushrooms cut in half
  • 1 large onion diced
  • 5 cloves garlic minced
  • 3 Tbs all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • Optional
  • egg noodles or rice
  • fresh parsley

Instructions

  • To a crockpot, add onion, mushrooms, beef, garlic, thyme, salt, pepper and wine. Cook on low for 6-8 hours.
  • Stir beef mixture and remove 1/4 cup broth. Whisk flour into broth and stir into crockpot. Turn crockpot temperature to high and cook for 10-15 minutes.
  • Add sour cream and mix well. Serve over egg noodles or rice, if desired.
