Ingredients

  • 1 loaf Italian bread or Ciabatta
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder or freshly minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon minced onion
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded parmesan or romano cheese

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350° F.
  • Melt the butter over medium heat and add the salt, pepper, garlic, onion, and parsley.   Add olive oil and stir to combine.  Remove from heat.
  • Slice the bread diagonally in 1/2 to 3/4 inch slices, not cutting all the way through the bottom.  Repeat until the loaf is sliced diagonally in two directions.
  • Mix the mozzarella cheese and parmesan cheese together in a bowl.  Gently opening the cracks of the bread, insert the cheese into the slices.
  • Brush with the melted garlic herb butter and wrap with foil.
  • Bake for 15 minutes until the cheese is melted and the bread is perfectly toasted.
