Batiste Dry Shampoo Review

Dry shampoo is a quick and convenient way to get soft, clean and fresh smelling hair, without water and Safeway now carries an expanded line of Batiste Dry Shampoos in the personal care aisle.  As a mom of three kiddos who has to drive to three schools for drop off every morning, I do not have time to wash and dry my hair each and every morning and this is where dry shampoo has become a life saver for me!  In the past I would throw on a baseball cap and get the kids where they needed to be and rush home to shower and get ready, but since discovering dry shampoo, I’m able to make my hair look fresh every morning by revitalizing my dull and lifeless 2nd day hair.

Dry shampoo isn’t new on the beauty scene, but when you walk down the personal care aisles at Safeway you’ll notice a lot of new dry shampoo options. I received 2 bottles of Batiste Instant Hair Refresh Dry Shampoo to review, but there are many more options available at your local store.  Batiste Dry Shampoo is regularly rated the #1 dry shampoo product by beauty magazines and hair stylists.  It’s amazing!  It not only helps your hair look and feel refreshed when you don’t have time to wash it, but it’s also a fabulous styling tool when you want to add texture and volume to your hair.  At the heart of all Batiste Dry Shampoos is an innovative starch based “no water needed” formulation. Adapting to your hair’s needs, it targets excess oil and grease, helping to eliminate it at the roots. Boosting body it gives dull, lifeless hair the makeover that it deserves without water. Just spray, massage in and style!

Tips for Using Dry Shampoo:

Shake Before you Spray

Shaking dry shampoo is essential to proper usage and coverage.  The product can settle and the formula can separate in the bottle so you won’t get the full benefit unless you shake it first.

Using it to Cleanse

If your roots are crazy greasy, the key to cleaning the up with dry shampoo is lift sections of your hair and spray the root area while holding the bottle six to 10 inches away from the scalp when applying.  This way, you distribute it not just on, but also around the roots.  Let the dry shampoo sit there for a minute or two to give the formula time to soak up all the oil. Then, use your hands to massage it into your roots and then rake any excess out.  This technique will ensure an instant refresh of your hair!

Using Dry Shampoo As a styling tool:

Dry shampoo is also an awesome product when you want to boost overall texture and volume in your hair, even if you’re working with freshly washed hair.  In this case, there’s no need to focus on your roots. Once your hair’s dry, just add a few spritzes of dry shampoo. I part my hair into sections and use two to three sprays because a little really goes a long way.  Once you flip your hair back, it’ll look tousled and textured—like you just woke up with the best bed-head ever.

Review of Batiste Dry Shampoo:

I tried the new Batiste Dry Shampoo Plus for Brunettes.  I’ve used several dry shampoos over the years and my biggest complaint was that they often leave a white or grey tint which can stand out in my brunette hair, but this Batiste product has a slight brown tint to it, which did not show up in my hair.   I like the texture of the dry shampoo because there’s no sticky residue or buildup on my scalp. I’ve tried other dry shampoos from different brands and they only made my hair look even more dirty. They would clump some oily sections together and my scalp would feel so weighed down. Not with Batiste! It’s so lightweight and the smell is so light and fresh! My hair looks like I just finished blow drying it from a wash.  It’s officially my go to styling product when I straighten my hair and want to have a little more volume.

I also tried the Tropical scent Batiste Dry Shampoo.  It worked just as well as the Divine Dark product, however I did see just a hint of great “starch” left over in my dark hair.  It made my hair smell very tropical like coconut and pineapple – the first thing that came to mind was a pina colada – and my husband even commented that he liked the scent, which was really nice.  My 12 year has taken over the Tropical scented dry shampoo and uses it several times a week to get the beach tousled look in her hair on days she doesn’t want to shower.

These really are great products, and it’s no wonder the Batiste Dry Shampoo line is consistently rated best dry shampoo in beauty magazines and on online review sites.

Batiste Dry Shampoos are available at Safeway for $7.99 a bottle.
