Oreo Black Cat Cupcakes Recipe
Yields 24 cupcakes. Â Prep time: 50 minutes, cook time: 20 minutes
Ingredients:
- 38 Halloween OREO Cookies, divided
- 1 package devil’s food cake mix and ingredients to prepare (egg, oil, water)
- 18 pieces of black string licorice
- 1 can (16 oz.) ready-to-spread chocolate frosting
- 24 red hots (or use red jelly beans cut in half)
- 48Â candy corn pieces
- 24 cupcake liners
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Coarsely chop 14 of the Oreo cookies. Prepare cake batter as directed on package; stir in chopped cookies. Place the cupcake liners into the muffin tin.  Spoon the cake batter evenly into the lined muffin cups, filling each cup 2/3 full.
Bake 20 to 25 min. or until toothpick inserted in centers comes out clean. Remove from pans; cool completely on wire racks.
Cut 24 (3-inch) lengths from licorice for the “cats’ tails;” set aside. Cut remaining licorice into 1-1/2-inch lengths for the “whiskers.” Make cat faces on each of the remaining 24 cookies, using some of the frosting to attach the whiskers to the cat faces. Add 2 red hots to each cookie for the “eyes” and 1 for the nose and 2 candy corn for the “ears”, affixing each with a dap of frosting. Let the cookies sit at least 30 minutes, or until the frosting is dry.
Heat the frosting in the microwave for 30 seconds to soften and pour into a pastry bag or plastic food storage bag.  Cut a small hot in the corner of the bag and squeeze gently to spread frosting on the cupcakes in a circular motion, creating a little height to hold the face of the cat.  Place the Oreo cookie cat faces on the edge of each cupcake. Place one 3-inch piece of licorice on the back half of each cupcake for the “cat’s tail.”
