Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrogel Masks – New at Safeway

Neutrogena has launched a new line of single use sheet masks that instantly quench and refresh your face, leaving your skin supple and hydrated.  The Neutrogena Hydro Boost hydrogel masks are available in a hydrating formula and a purifying formula at Safeway.  I do mask treatments weekly, but this is the first time I had used a sheet mask product that you put on and pull off intact.  It was quite a different mask experience.  Most of the mask treatments I’ve used are for purification, exfoliation and detoxification.  It was a nice change to have a hydration mask where the treatment objective is to add moisture back into your skin rather than strip it of anything.  I tried both the Hydro Boost hydrating mask and the Deep Clean purifying mask and had good results with both.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Hydrogel Mask Review

The Hydro Boost Hydrating mask contains hyaluronic acid which instantly quenches dry skin, leaving it hydrated, smooth and supple.  Hyaluronic acid, which is naturally found in the skin, acts as a sponge, absorbing up to 1,000 times its weight in water.  Perfect for rehydrating dry Colorado skin, especially if you are using any sort of exfoliating or treatment products, your skin can become dry and flaky.  One use of this hydrogel mask and your skin will become rehydrated and supple.   I’ve learned as you age, your skin loses moisture, luster and can begin to appear dull and flaky when the wrinkles appear.  I love using hyaloronic acid to replenish the moisture and plump up the fine lines and wrinkles.

The mask comes in two parts, one for your forehead and nose and one for the jawline and cheeks, which ensures a good fit for your face.  Upon opening the package, you’ll find the mask has a lot of liquid, so be careful not to get spill it on anything important.  The hydrogel mask is a material unlike anything I’ve ever felt before.  It’s like gel in which one side is texturized with the hydrating ingredients that you apply to your face. The other side is smooth an slightly sticky.

My kiddos are used to seeing me in masks, but this one was very strange to them and they wanted to touch my face repeatedly!  I left the mask on for 30 minutes but that was my absolute max.  After 30 minutes my face started to itch, which told me it was time to take the mask off.  I did not wash the product off and went to bed with the extra layer of hyaluronic acid on my face.  I absolutely loved the instant hydration.  It wasn’t sticky as I expected it to be, rather it just made my face really smooth and supple as if I had just had a spa facial.

I noticed the difference for days and I will definitely be purchasing the hydrating mask again!  The best part was the extra hydration under my eyes – that was the most noticeable because the mask was only on part of the skin under my eyes and that part was plump and totally hydrated.  Maybe a product extension is needed in the form of eye masks! 😉

Review of the Neutrogena Deep Clean Purifying Hydrogel Mask

This gel mask also comes in two parts and this one contains seaweed extract which instantly soothes and refreshes your skin, leaving it healthy-looking, soft and purified.  The mask was also quite wet when I removed it from the packaging and despite containing seaweed extract, it has a pleasant fresh scent.  I was able to wear the mask and do basic housework like fold laundry and I had no concerns of slippage or the mask falling off my face.  It contoured to my face and stayed put until I removed it.  There is definitely a bit of a tingle with this mask, unlike the hydrating mask, which must be the purifying ingredients at work.  I left the mask on for 30 minutes and rinsed the gel off after I removed the mask because it was quite sticky.   My skin felt clean and super hydrated.  This is perfect for anyone wanting to add moisture to their skin care routine with a weekly treatment mask.
