O Organics Iced Teas
If you are an iced tea drinker, you will be thrilled to know there’s a new line of organic iced teas at Safeway under the O Organics line. Whether you like to stay hydrated with a refreshing cool beverage, or have plans to entertain guests for a summer BBQ, the new O Organics Iced Teas are a tasty and refreshing option! While O Organics Iced Teas are not new, there were previously glass bottled versions available in the beverage aisle, the new single serve tea flavors are formulated with tea blends and ingredients that may have additional health and wellness benefits.
There are three new flavors in the 16 oz single serving size – Organic Green Tea & Matcha Blend Mint Tea, Organic Vanilla Rooibos Tea, ad Organic Moroccan Spice Black Tea. I’ve partnered with Safeway to review these new O Organics Iced Teas and share my thoughts with you here. I am avid iced tea drinker and love to brew my own tea in the summer sun. I love to add flavors to my teas like orange peel, lemon peel, and I’ll even muddle up some fresh mint from the garden to give a mint flavor to the tea. I am in love with the new single serve teas from O Organics. Each of the new teas are made with all natural and organic ingredients and they each have 50 calories and 12 grams of sugar.
O Organics Green Tea & Matcha Blend Mint Flavored Tea
This new mint flavored green tea with added matcha is cool, refreshing and delicious. Matcha is premium green tea powder from Japan used for drinking as tea or as an ingredient in recipes. It’s considered a superfood because it’s packed with antioxidants, it boosts metabolism and burns calories and calms the mind and relaxes the body. While the tea doesn’t make any claims of health benefits, I felt good about drinking it knowing that the matcha was in there. Of the three new teas, this was my favorite with it’s slightly mint and green tea flavors. You definitely need to shake the bottle frequently while consuming because the matcha tea powder settles to the bottom.
Ingredients: organic brewed green tea, organic green tea matcha, organic cane sugar, organic spearmint extract, organic peppermint extract, citric acid.
O Organics Rooibos Vanilla Tea
I first tried Rooibos Tea at a ladies luncheon at the Brown Palace, and I instantly fell in love with the slight fruity, sweet, and smooth herbal texture of the tea. The O Organics Rooibos Vanilla tea has a very strong flavor of vanilla and rooibos. It’s the strongest flavor of the three new teas. Your senses are instantly awoken by the sweet and spicy rooibos and the flavor is sweet with a lingering taste of vanilla on the tongue. If you are a rooibos fan, you will love this new tea!
Rooibos tea or red tea is an herbal beverage, with medicinal properties, that is acquired from the Aspalathus linearis bush plant found in South Africa. Health benefits of red rooibos tea include its ability to cure headaches, insomnia, asthma, eczema, bone weakness, hypertension, allergies, and premature aging. This tea is caffeine free and is also low in tannins.
Ingredients: organic brewed Rooibos tea, organic cane sugar, organic natural flavors, citric acid
O Organics Black Tea Moroccan Spice
This refreshing black tea is infused with subtle spice flavors that are possibly cinnamon, clove and anise. The package doesn’t say specifically which spices are included, but those are the flavors that I tasted. It’s really good tea and would be perfect served cold on a hot summer day anytime you want a little pick me up from the black tea.
Ingredients: organic brewed tea, organic cane sugar, natural flavors
There are three new 59 oz size bottles of O Organics Teas available at Safeway, including organic Lemonade Iced Tea, Organic Lightly Sweetened Iced Tea and Organic Unsweetened Iced Tea. Perfect for keeping in the refrigerator and enjoying throughout the day over ice, and for serving at any summer BBQ.
The O Organics Organic Lemonade Iced Tea is quite tart when you initially taste it. For those who love a good Arnold Palmer, this is a good blend of lemonade and iced tea. There is a bit of a lingering taste on the tongue from the lemon juice and sugar, which is to be expected. This tea must be shaken first so that all the flavors can be properly combined because there is some settling that can occur. This is the sweetest of the larger bottled varieties with 39 grams of sugar and 160 calories in each 12 oz serving.
The O Organics Organic Lightly Sweetened Iced Tea is a delicious and refreshing sweet tea. While is says “lightly sweetened”, the flavor reminds me of sweet tea from the south. I’m sure it has less sugar than traditional sweet teas, but I’m not typically a sweet tea drinker, so to me it tastes like black tea infused with sugar. It contains 110 calories and has 26 grams of sugar in each 12 oz serving.
The O Organics Organic Unsweetened Iced Tea is my favorite of the larger 59 oz bottles because it’s just a good black tea in a bottle. Nothing added but organic black tea and filtered water. This tea has 0 calories and 0 grams of sugar.
The new O Organics Iced Tea 59 oz bottles are available in the refrigerated juice section of your local Safeway and they retail for $2.99 a bottle. The 16 oz O Organics teas are located in the beverage aisle and retail for just $.89 each. Give them a try and let us know what you think!
