The four flavors that Safeway carries include White Cheddar Ranch, Avocado Cilantro Vinaigrette, Lemon Caesar Vinaigrette and Lemon Agave Vinaigrette. I partnered with Safeway and received each of the flavors to review and share my thoughts here with you.
One of the salads I eat daily is a mixed green salad base and I top it with chopped avocado, chopped tomatoes, Kalamata lives, feta cheese, sliced mini bell peppers and garbanzo beans or canned tuna for a little protein. For this salad, I chose the lemon agave dressing because it is the perfect compliment to the saltiness of the feta and olives and adds a delicious fresh citrusy flavor that finishes the salad. The organic girl Avocado Cilantro Vinaigrette has a blend of avocado, fresh cilantro, a splash of lime and a kick of real jalapeno. This dressing is creamy, smooth, spicy and perfectly balanced. I am not typically a cilantro fan, in fact cilantro tastes like soap to me, so I was nervous to try this dressing, but I will tell you this dressing tastes nothing like cilantro. It’s got a fresh and zesty avocado lime flavor. The cilantro makes the dressing green, but really doesn’t flavor it much. This would be perfect over a Mexican chopped salad with crunchy romaine, chopped tomatoes, avocados, grilled corn and black beans.
The organic girl Lemon Agave Vinaigrette is my favorite by far. It’s tart yet sweet from the agave with whole pieces of lemon in the dressing. Perfect over the most delicate lettuce in a salad, and it would even make a perfect vinaigrette to add to a lemon orzo or risotto dish or serve with a shrimp and avocado ceviche. This dressing does need to come to room temp just a little bit before you can use it. The oil and lemon pieces hardened slightly in the bottle but once left on the counter for a few minutes, it was perfect!
The organic girl Lemon Caesar Vinaigrette is the strongest flavored dressing to me. It has a bright fresh lemon juice flavor with plenty of parmesan & sharp white cheddar and a light, tangy texture with a strong taste of tamari and dijon mustard. This creamy dressing would pair perfectly with a crisp romaine, red or green leaf lettuce or spicy arugula topped with shaved parmesan cheese. A great alternative to a traditional caesear, this dressing has 110 calories per servings and 11 grams of fat.
The organic girl White Cheddar Ranch Dressing is a thick and creamy dressing with chunks of cheddar cheese throughout. This light and refreshing dressing is rich in flavor with real aged white cheddar & fresh green onions. It has only 60 calories per serving and 5g of fat, so it can be a healthy everyday favorite. Serve over any crispy green lettuce like romaine, crunchy green or red lettuce or even with some baby butter lettuce.
