  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil
  • candy eyes

How to Make Halloween Spider Cookies

Preheat the oven to 350°

In a large bowl, cream together the peanut butter and sugar until combined.  Add the egg and vanilla extract and mix until combined.

Using a cookie scoop, scoop round balls into your hands and roll them into round balls.  Place on the baking sheet.

Use the bottom of a mason jar or glass to slightly flatten the cookies before baking.

Bake for 15-17 minutes.  It’s better to remove when slightly underdone, rather than overdone.  They don’t really brown and if they turn brown, they are overcooked.

Remove the cookies from the oven and while hot, put the peanut butter cups onto the center of the cookies upside down.

Place the cookies back into the oven for 45 seconds to heat the peanut butter cups.

Gently affix the candy eyes to the peanut butter cups using your fingers.

Melt the chocolate chips and coconut oil in a small bowl in the microwave for 1 minute 25 seconds.

Place the melted chocolate into a plastic piping bag, or food storage bag with a #2 tip.  If you don’t have the tip, then just cut a small hole in the plastic bag.

Drizzle the chocolate to resemble legs with 4 lines on each side of the peanut butter cup.

Allow the cookies to cool and the chocolate to harden for at least 30 to one hour minutes before serving.
