If you prefer a nut-free version, you can use sun butter, which is made up of sunflower seeds.

To punch up the nutrition, you can add some hemp seeds, pepitas, chia seeds, flax seeds or the ground version of any of those.

How to Make Healthy Cereal Bars

Heat the peanut butter and the honey in a medium-size pot over low heat and stir to combine.

Add the oat cereal to the mix gently until all the pieces are coated.

Layer an 8×8 baking pan with parchment paper and pour the cereal into the prepared pan.  Smooth with a spatula until flat.

Refrigerate the cereal bars for one hour until firm.

Use a serrated knife to cut the cereal bars.  Enjoy.

If adding nuts, dried fruit or chocolate chips, let the peanut butter mixture cool slightly before adding the cereal and chocolate chips.  Add a few extra chips on the top as they may melt.
