How to Make a Homemade Latte
In honor of Earth Month, we have partnered with Safeway and Whitewave foods to bring you a video about making homemade lattes from the comfort of your kitchen. This is a quick and easy way for you to make a conscious effort at minimizing waste, saving time, saving money and using sustainable, plant or nut based ingredients at home. I’ve making lattes and cappuccinos at home for years and the technique is so easy that I am sharing it with all of you here. For a super small investment in a $25 stove top espresso maker and a $2.99 milk frother, you too can have delicious homemade lattes at home any time of the day you want!

Here’s what you need:
- Bialetti or French Press
- Ground Espresso
- Silk Vanilla Almond Milk
- Water
- Pot to heat milk (or microwave safe cup)
How to make a homemade latte
You’ll fill the Bialetti about 3/4 of the way full with water, add the ground espresso to the filter and brew over a medium flame for 3-4 minutes. In the meantime, froth the milk with a milk frother. If you do not have a milk frother, you can ad the milk to a glass canning jar and tightly close the lid and shake vigorously for a couple of minutes until you get the foam consistency that you like. Heat the milk over a medium flame for about 4 minutes, but do not allow it to boil. Combine the milk and the brewed espresso, top with ground cinnamon and enjoy!
