Open Nature Grain Free Dog Food Review

I purchased the puppy Chicken & Chickpea dry dog food for my pup Charlie and she seems to like it.

I feel good that chicken is the first ingredient and I appreciate all the natural ingredients in the dog food including pea protein, brown rice, oatmeal, carrots, blueberries, kelp, cranberries, and more.

This product also comes with a 100% money-back guarantee, so if your pet doesn’t like it, you can take it back for a full refund.

  1. Our dog likes the Open Nature Salmon & Chickpea dogfood, but our cat doesn’t like the Open Nature Salmon and Chickpea catfood – can we give the rest of that ‘catfood’ to our dog – I see the ingredient list is very similar?

  2. Why do you advertise as natural when putting things like Carrageenan in the food. This seaweed is so toxic for dogs and can kill them, it causes inflammation, horrible GI issues such as ulceration and many others. I was so excited to get this product for my dog until I saw this in ththe ingredients list!!! Man I’m glad I looked this up , shame on the food service industry for letting them put this in our food babies food.

  3. This Web Site is Worthless!!
I’m trying to find some info on The Open Nature Salmon Chickpea Dog Food. Is there any????

  4. Someone asked if this product is made in the USA and you never replied. I’m starting to fear this is another scam manufactured in China. Please get back to us right away and let us know where this product is manufactured.

    1. The Open Nature Dog food is a Lucerne product and Lucerne products are manufactured in the US and Canada.

  5. My 6 year old pit bull mix rescue loves the grain free chicken chickpea dry food. He’s 60lbs, high energy and super athletic, as well as a cuddly mamas boy (lol). His stomach has always been sensitive and grain free is really the only way to go. He’s tried many expensive organic brands – so I was happy to find Open Nature at my Acme when I ran out of his other brand and couldn’t get to the pet store in time. I ended up mixing the trial bag with his usual food and now completely all Open Nature. He’s as healthy as ever and the food is far more affordable! Great product!

  6. I buy my two large dogs three large bags of the chicken and chickpea a month. They really seem to like it a lot. The price is totally reasonable, and my dogs are healthy. Right this moment, my bulldog ate all of her morning portion and as usual licked the bowl. I would recommend this dog food for anyone who wants a good food for their pets at a great price.

  7. Just picked some up for my dogs they love it but was hoping for larger bags. German shepherds go thru 11lbs pretty quickly. When I opened the bag it had a good smell like the more expensive brands.

  8. Can I please get a list of the calories and carb percentage of each flavor of the wet cat food? A lot of cats are on a strict diet so I believe this information would be of benefit to a lot of people.

  9. Wondering on these new pet food products, do we have to worry about any of the ” euthanasia drugs” being in these cans of food? Not a rude question…quite serious. Thank you

    1. Hi Mary, according to the book, “Food Pets Die For” by Ann N. Martin, euthanasia drugs were found in pet food containing meat by-products, which can be from any source. Meat by-products can include euthanized animals from animal control “shelters” as well as road kill picked up by animal control. Everyone, please avoid meat by-products. Also, the USDA allows the three “D’s” in MEAL. Such as chicken meal, beef meal, fish meal, lamb meal, turkey meal. Meal is very common in dry pet food as it is very cheap and a way for livestock farmers to get rid of the animals and make money. Three D’s are Diseased, Dead and Dying. Which means the animal would have had cancer, or any other disease/illness. The 3 D’s are NOT allowed to be sold for human consumption. This is why a very popular pet food manufacturer openly advertises they do not use meals in their foods. Dogs and cats have an increasingly higher rate of cancer over the years from past decades since meal became so widely used. Love to all the cat and dog parents!
