Open Nature Icelandic Yogurt Sale and Coupon

Safeway’s Open Nature line has expanded with the launch of this new Open Nature Icelandic Style Yogurt.

I recently tried it and it is thick and creamy and has 9 grams of sugar and 16 – 17 grams of protein per cup.

The new yogurt comes in several flavor options including strawberry, peach, blueberry, mixed berry, vanilla, and raspberry.

Pair with the HOT deal on Open Nature Granola – just $.99 this week with coupons and make some yogurt parfaits for breakfast this week.

What is Icelandic Yogurt?

Also know as skyr, this yogurt from the Nordic island is giving Greek yogurt a run for its money.

It’s actually made the same way as Greek yogurt, but it’s strained a bit more to result in a seriously thick yogurt that has even more protein.

It’s traditionally made with nonfat yogurt, but the Open Nature variety is made with 2% milk, giving it more richness and creaminess.  There is also a non-fat option available in several of the flavors.

Overall, it’s less tart and more decadent than Greek yogurt.  You can use it the same way you would Greek yogurt in recipes – check out a few yogurt-based recipes below.

Try a cup or two for just $.59 each with a new sale and coupon at Safeway.

  1. I didn’t see pectin listed in the ingredients when I purchased the plain yogurt. My question is what bacteria is used to make this yogurt? My understanding of Icelandic yogurt was not that it was just strained longer than Greek Yogurt but that it contain more and different inoculates than other non-Icelandic yogurts.

  2. I love this Yogurt!
Just discovered it. It is my new go to option!
Lower Sugar than all others on the shelf. Just enough tartness, and great creamy texture.
    Highly recommend trying it!

  3. I do not like the digital coupons because too often one finds out there is such a coupon after buying the product.

I did try Icelandic style yogurt ‘Open Nature’ and could barely taste the flavor. Texture was good and thick, but then you’ve got pectin in it so why not? Anyhow, not enough flavor.
