Take advantage of the hot deal on cantaloupe melons at Safeway right now – just $1.99 each with a digital coupon to make these yummy Cantaloupe Smoothie Bowls.  You can experiment with different flavors of Greek Yogurt, quark or your favorite plant-based yogurt for this bowl.  I used vanilla almond milk yogurt, but you can also use raspberry, honey, strawberry or blueberry to mix it up.

You can also get blackberries and raspberries on sale for just $3.00, which would make perfect toppings for your smoothie bowls!

Tips for Buying a Good Cantaloupe:

Look closely at the cantaloupe – the skin should appear webbed, and there shouldn’t be any dents or bruises. Look for one that’s tan or even slightly yellow — but not green.

Smell it – find the spot where the stem was attached, and take a whiff. A ripe cantaloupe will smell sweet and tasty (just like a slice of juicy cantaloupe).

Lastly, press the cantaloupe gently all over to make sure there are no squishy parts. A squishy area means it’s overripe.
