Safeway Partners with DoorDash for On-Demand Grocery Delivery

Safeway parent company Albertsons, has partnered with DoorDash to offer on-demand grocery delivery from over 2,000 Albertsons banner stores across the United States via the DoorDash marketplace app.

Under the new partnership, shoppers can order groceries and essentials on-demand for delivery within an hour through DoorDash with no time slot, or minimum order size required.  Safeway will offer more than 40,000 grocery items for delivery from its stores, including fresh, bakery, select prepared foods, core grocery, and frozen and you can even order a dozen red roses through the app. 

Perfect when you need food or household essentials delivered quickly and don’t want to deal with the hassle of scheduling a delivery or pick-up time and knowing your groceries will be delivered to your door in under an hour!

The partnership includes both immediate and long-term initiatives, including supporting the expansion of Albertsons’ first-party grocery delivery business with DoorDash Drive, launching a custom loyalty program, expanding delivery hours, and offering a unique selection including specialty items, prepared meals, meal kits and new concepts.

Unique to the partnership and ripe for expansion, in select markets, you can order freshly prepared foods from the Safeway deli. If you are craving a custom breakfast sandwich or breakfast burrito, a California club, prepared deli salad, whole roasted chicken or a combo meal, the app allows you to place your order for deli delivery 

This partnership expands Safeway’s current grocery delivery and curbside pick-up options by offering yet another way for shoppers to get groceries to their door on-demand.

Get free delivery for first-time Door Dash users.

Simply download the DoorDash app via your smartphone, or sign up for an account online and create your order.  

If you are a regular user of DoorDash, the delivery fee is $3.99.

Because the order processing and payment are completed through DoorDash, Safeway club pricing and Just for U discounts will not apply. 

All Albertsons stores will be available on DashPass, DoorDash’s membership program that offers members unlimited $0 delivery fees and reduced service fees from thousands of restaurants, grocery, and convenience stores nationwide.

DashPass members can enjoy these benefits on all eligible orders of $25 or more from Albertsons Cos.
