Safeway Prepared Thanksgiving or Holiday Dinner 2022
Don’t stress about cooking a complete Thanksgiving Dinner this season, let Safeway or Albertsons help with a prepared holiday meal complete with all the sides. There are several options from which to choose, starting at $39.99 for a turkey dinner for two. Choose from whole turkey, spiral sliced ham, prime rib or a turkey breast dinner.
The meals must be ordered ahead of time, so you can stop by your local store deli, call 1-888-358-7328 or visit Safeway.com/orderahead (available Nov. 1st) and click on Holiday meals to place your order. See below for the complete meal options.
While you can order ahead online, you will still need to stop into your local store to pick up the meal from the deli. The meals are not available through the Safeway grocery delivery service.
The meals arrive frozen, so you will need 2 days for all the food to thaw. The fully cooked meal will need 2-3 hours to reheat.
If you want additional sides, those are also available from your local deli.
You can get extra potatoes, stuffing, green bean casserole, sweet potatoes with maple, gravy, cranberry sauce, and spiced apples.

The meals are available throughout the months of November and December.

Cooking Instructions for Prepared Holiday Meals
Safeway recently sent me the prepared holiday ham meal in order to create a video to feature the complete meal. Here are my tips and tricks for serving a prepared holiday meal.
The sides were completely frozen and needed 2-3 days to thaw in the refrigerator, so you’ll need to plan ahead.
I found small stoneware baking dishes at Dillard’s to accommodate the side dishes since some will require baking and some will be reheated in the microwave. I purchased 4 Southern Living Alexa stoneware bakers in various shapes and highly recommend them for a beautiful presentation. (NOT sponsored or affiliated at all). You can totally find budget-friendly options at Home Goods/TJMAXX/Marshalls as well.
- The Smithfield Spiral Sliced ham is fully cooked and just needs to be glazed and heated. Allow for 1.5 hours for the ham to cook at 400°.
- The scalloped potatoes will need a casserole dish (I used an 11″ x 7″ baking dish) and are baked covered for 40 minutes at 350°
- The green bean casserole does not come with fried onions, so if you want the fried onions, you will need to purchase them separately. I used a 10″ x 7″ baker. Cook uncovered for 30 minutes at 350°.
- The mashed sweet potatoes are cooked in the microwave for 3 minutes, uncovered. I used an oval baker (10″ x 7″).
- The mashed potatoes are cooked in the microwave for 3 minutes, with the plastic wrap vented.
- The stuffing is cooked in the microwave for 1 minute, or in the oven for 25 minutes at 350°.
- The spiced apples are cooked in the microwave for 2-3 minutes. Any microwave bowl will work here.
- The cranberry sauce does not need to be cooked, just served in a pretty bowl.
- The gravy can be cooked in the microwave or on the stovetop (I would choose the stovetop to free up the microwave for the side dishes).
We were impressed with the flavor of the meal and ease of preparation. I feel if you know these cooking times, the size of baking dishes needed, and make a plan ahead of time, it will make your holiday celebration go smoothly and no one has to know it was a fully purchased prepared meal they enjoyed. 😉

I thought it was a great deal for the price! Our turkey was moist, the dressing was tasty, potatoes were good as were the cranberries, and the graveyard was perfect. I’ve had strokes so my husband and grandson do the cooking and this was easy for them! We bought pies, but other than that, everything was included. Thank you for your help in making our thanksgiving a memorable meal!
DO NOT DO THIS… you might as well just go and get what you want out of the deli. It’s nothing special just the same thing as in their deli department. You have to heat everything in the microwave by the time you do this, everything is cold. Nothing is in metal all is microwavable. I ordered two meal and only got the sides for the first one. I had to go back for the second set of sides. I never got the rolls… NONE. Why all the fuss of picking a time to pick up the food when you can go anytime you want and pick out the same thing as what is already there. DEFINITELY NOT WORTH THE MONEY. So disappointed. I agree mashed potatoes and au gratin potatoes were watery. Ad is totally misleading.
Thanksgiving 2021: I purchased the $69.99 meal. 10-12 lb Turkey, 2 Resers Mashed potato’s, stuffing, gravy, rolls (advertised as Hawaiian rolls) they weren’t. Turkey was simple to reheat but the mashed potato’s weren’t edible. They were oddly watery when I opened them and when I microwaved as necessary they didn’t firm together. Both cartons sadly. Thankfully I had bought a spare earlier. But very disappointed for the price. I would gave saved considerably buy purchasing each separate item and the Turkey still takes 2-3 hours to reheat so not convinced that that much time and effort are being saved with a pre-made dinner.
