Quaker Morning Go-Kits – New at Safeway
There’s a new breakfast option available from Quaker in the dairy aisle at your local Safeway – Quaker Morning Go-Kits are a protein packed breakfast option complete with Greek yogurt, crispy breakfast flats, crunchy nuts, and dried fruit. This is a great attempt by Quaker to make their Breakfast Flats a complete breakfast option complete with 18 grams of whole grains and 18 grams of protein from the yogurt and nuts. I picked the Morning Go-Kits up to try and my kids and I thoroughly enjoyed each of the kits. We are already big fans of the breakfast flats and I serve those as an afternoon snack on the way to soccer or tennis, but with the combination of yogurt and trail mix, this could be a great breakfast to take with you to the office, or eat in the car. The kit even comes with a small plastic spoon, so you don’t have to bring anything else along to enjoy the new Morning Go-Kit.
Quaker Morning Go-Kit Flavors
The Morning Go-Kits are available in two flavors options including Berry Almond Trail Mix with Quaker Cranberry Almond Breakfast Flats and Strawberry Greek non-fat yogurt and the second morning Go-Kit contains Raisin, nut & Seed Trail Mix, Quaker Banana Honey Nut Breakfast Flats and Vanilla Greek Non-Fat Yogurt.
I tried both the vanilla and strawberry yogurt go-kits and I love the raisin nut & seed mix with whole pepitas and chopped pecans that comes with the vanilla yogurt and banana honey nut breakfast flat.. The vanilla Greek yogurt was surprisingly full of flavor, despite being fat free and when you combine the yogurt with the trail mix, you get a great crunch in every bite.
The strawberry yogurt is also really good, although I felt the Berry Almond Trail Mix could be improved by providing slightly larger almond pieces. The almonds were chopped in such a way that they are too small to eat on their own as a proper trail mix. You have to mix them in with the yogurt to add some texture to the yogurt. I did enjoy the dried cranberries and dried blueberries, but the almonds were a bit on the small side for me personally.
Overall, I think these kits have potential for busy families on the go who want a healthy breakfast that comes complete with the spoon! They have no artificial sweeteners, or flavors, no high fructose corn syrup, 18 grams of protein and 18 grams of whole grains. They also contain 410 calories, so it’s a filling breakfast even for an adult.
