By registering early (before March 3rd), you can get pre-game perks including 5 free game tickets, 10 game tokens, and a chance to win a $25 Safeway gift card!
There are 2 ways to register early to play.
- Register online – visit shopplaywin.com and sign in with your Just for U information to connect your account.
- Download the Shop Play Win app and sign-in with your Just for U login information.
Using the app is the easiest way to play Monopoly at Safeway.

What’s New in 2021:
There are some BIG changes to this year’s game. Here are the highlights of what’s new.

You’ll still get game tickets from your local store every time you shop and extra game pieces based on spend thresholds and when you buy participating items.

Monopoly tickets will only be given in-store, not available for Safeway grocery delivery or drive up and go orders.
If you registered early, you will get 10 game tokens and 5 free game tickets loaded into your account. The 5 free game tickets are loaded into your Safeway Just for U account under My List. You will receive the 5 free game tickets the first time you shop at Safeway. The cashier will know how many tickets to give you based on the tally on your receipt.

Hi Richard – I’m sorry you feel this way. Safeway changed the game because of COVID, I’m sure next year they will go back to a game board with pieces to collect. I’m personally enjoying the game this year as is my family and have won over $50 in cash and prizes.
Dump this new electronic game and go back to game boards. Maybe you don’t want people playing/winning to save that expense. You had a winning format last year.
Hi John Safeway changed the game to 100% digital this year because of COVID. I’m certain that next year they will bring back the game board and game markers. The game can be played via a smartphone, tablet or on the computer this year.
This is a horrible game now….used to love to play it.
I’m 82 with just a flip phone…I know I’m not with it but why can’t you have both (the board and the app) that way “everyone” could be included…even us elderly!!!!
Ok, I have to say I have egg on my face. I read and re-read the way in which to play this game. Yes, you do have an image of the monopoly gameboard BUT what I failed to do was to “pick 3 of the 9 boxes shown”. If they match, you win what is shown. If you don’t match, you go to the “Chance” page and click one or the other and you will receive consolation prize. Makes a lot more sense now.

I can’t figure out how to play Monopoly. Like others, I don’t have a cell phone and I thought all I had to do was go to shopplaywin,ciom, but I get nowhere. Sure wish we still had the old game board.
I was able to play my tickets on my computer last week, but now they want me to download an app. I do not want to download google or any other app. Why is it now working this week?

Hi Marvin – Sorry for the trouble. Do you have a Safeway Just for U account that you use regularly? If so – you just enter that email address and password on the shopplaywin site or app to enter the Monopoly game codes. If you do not have a Just for U account – you’ll first need to create one before you can play Monopoly. I’m elderly. No fancy cell phone to download app. Was told @ Safeway store I could do the game online. Can’t find out how to do it. Back in the day with game board, I did tickets online & printed coupons for extra tickets etc. Now to difficult. to mess with!

Really odd game and no one seems to know what’s going on, Seems Safeway is CONFUSED. Employees say directions inside the game piece or read them on line. Directions on line say you can get gameboard at Safeway Service Counter. Safeway workers say there are NO Gameboards. Who is right?

This is ridiculous. I feel for the elderly. And I’m not getting any younger! lmao. This is not available to download on my windows laptop. What do the elderly do, if they don’t have a chromebook or a smart phone? I get it, you want us to use the Just For You app. And it would be convenient while in the store shopping. But it is getting more complicated. I have loved playing monopoly in the past, even if I don’t win much. But I think you are being exclusive instead of inclusive. I get the covid angle. You don’t want to handle physically touched tix. But if you really want to go to no touch. Why even the tix?
