Savory Bacon, Onion & Goat Cheese Tarts

If you are looking for the perfect appetizer to make for New Years Eve or any upcoming dinner parties you may be hosting, these Savory Bacon, Onion & Goat Cheese Tarts are amazing!  Our friends at Safeway created the recipe and these tarts are incredibly easy to prepare with ingredients you may already have on hand.  Simply cook bacon until it’s crisp then chop it and combine with sauteed onions, chopped dates, goat cheese until well incorporated.  Then place the mixture into pie dough that’s been cut into squares,  fold into triangles and seal with a fork to keep everything inside.  Top with an egg wash and bake until the crust is golden brown.  The flavors of caramelized onions, bacon and goat cheese are amazing on their own, but the addition of the dates adds a new layer of sweetness that compliments the salty bacon and goat cheese perfectly!

You can even make extras and serve for a light lunch the next day!  If you want to make these vegetarian – just omit the bacon and enjoy.  There is plenty of flavor with the onions, dates and goat cheese to enjoy!

Take advantage of the hot sale on bacon at Safeway and make these tarts to ring in the New Year!  If you want additional appetizer ideas – check out our Smoked Salmon Cheeseball recipe, a perfect cheeseboard, and for a fun and fruity beverage, check out the Apple Pomegranate Sparkler.
