Ham is on sale for Easter and is a perfect centerpiece for an Easter brunch or dinner.  Whether you go for a bone-in ham shank or butt-portion or spiral sliced ham, the glaze is the most important decision when it comes to cooking the ham.

This glaze is perfect for spring – sweet peach preserves complement the maple syrup and grainy mustard and adhere to the ham creating a sweet crust.

How Long to Cook a Spiral Sliced Ham

The time to cook varies based on the size of ham you purchase.

Spiral cut hams are typically between 8 and 11 pounds and already come fully cooked. This means when you’re cooking a ham, you just want to heat it through. The best way to do this is to cook it at a low temperature so the outside doesn’t dry out before the inside is warmed through.

To cook a spiral ham without it drying out make sure you use a meat thermometer and let it reach 135°F and do not overcook it.

How long to cook a Spiral Ham will depend on the size but allot for 13-16 minutes per pound at 300°F uncovered. If your ham is done early, remove it from the oven and let it cool a little bit so it doesn’t keep cooking. Once slightly cooled, cover with foil, and don’t cut until ready to serve.

Ingredients in Maple Peach Ham Glaze

  • 8-9 pound spiral cut ham
  • 1-2 cups of water
  • 1 cup peach preserves
  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons grainy mustard
  • 1 tablespoon thyme leaves

How to Make a Maple Peach Glazed Ham

Preheat the oven to 300°. Pour 1/4-inch water into the roasting pan. Insert toothpicks into the front of the ham to keep slices together. Tent with foil and let heat for 1 ½ hours.

Whisk to combine remaining ingredients, reserving half of the glaze for serving. Glaze ham every 5-10 minutes during the last 30 minutes of cooking. Let rest 15 minutes, loosely covered, before serving. Remove toothpicks and serve.

Spiral ham is precooked, so the temperature you are looking for when reheating is 135°.
