Ingredients in Halloween Treats

Rice Krispies Treats:

  • 6 Tbs unsweetened butter
  • 10.5 oz mini marshmallows
  • food coloring
  • 6 cups puffed rice cereal

Eyeballs:
  • 10 oz large marshmallows
  • gummy rings
  • black licorice

How to Make Monster Eye Halloween Treats

These are easy to make, but you do need to have a small round biscuit cutter to cut the shapes.  You can pick one up at your local craft store or kitchen supply store.  A 1 5/8″ size biscuit cutter is a perfect size, or a 2″ round biscuit cutter will work as well.

Start by making the Rice Krispies treats.

In a 5-quart saucepan, melt butter and miniature marshmallows over low heat. Remove from the heat and add food coloring, stirring to incorporate fully before adding the cereal.

Press into a 9×13” pan sprayed with non-stick spray. Let sit for 10-15 minutes.

Cut puffed rice and marshmallow treats into circles (use a biscuit cutter) or squares and top with eyes.

To make candy eyes, cut marshmallows in half and place the sticky side down on treats. Top with the gummy rings. Insert a small piece of licorice into the middle of the gummy ring.

Repeat if desired with different colors of food dye in the Rice Krispies Treats for a fun Halloween effect.

Pro Tips:

1. Spray your hands with non-stick spray to easily press puffed rice and marshmallow mixture into the pan.

2. Use a small dab of honey or melted white chocolate to secure the gummy ring/ licorice to the marshmallow.
