Dessert Charcuterie Board

Whether you are hosting a small Galentine’s gathering or entertaining your family on Valentine’s Day, spend less time in the kitchen and more time enjoying your family and loved ones by making a dessert charcuterie board.

You can fill the board with anything your heart desires, I recommend having a combination of sweet and savory so as to not go overboard on the sweetness factor.

What goes on a dessert charcuterie board?

The sky is the limit.  Start in the Safeway bakery and pick up some delicious baked goods like petite brownies, madeleines, and your favorite cookies.  Make a simple chocolate peanut butter dip and a jam-filled brie, then assemble the board.

Recipe for peanut butter chocolate dip

Such an easy recipe for a delicious dip!  The combination of salty peanut butter and sweet chocolate is irresistible.  A perfect dip for a dessert board because you already have chocolate overload, so the salty peanut butter helps to break it up a bit.  It’s amazing for dipping strawberries, bananas, madeleines and more!

  • 1/3 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 heaping tablespoon of creamy peanut butter

Combine in a microwave-safe dish and microwave for one minute.  Stir until combined.

I used milk chocolate chips, but you can use semi-sweet if you prefer.

Take advantage of sales on fresh strawberries and raspberries – just $1.67 each package and Signature SELECT caramels – just $2.99 after a digital coupon, Signature SELECT petite brownies, and madeleines are $3.50 after digital coupon to make your own Dessert Charcuterie board.

For the brie cheese, you’ll draw a heart shape with the tp of a knife, then scrape out about 1/4 inch of the brie cheese.  Fill it with your favorite jam – raspberry jam shows the best, but any jam you have will work. You can use apricot, fig jam, strawberry, or raspberry.

To Assemble the Board

You can use a cutting board, a sheet pan, a wooden board or a tray as the base for your dessert board.

There is no real rhyme or reason to board assembly, but it does bode well to start with the largest items first, so in this case, the peanut butter chocolate dip and the brie cheese.  From there you just want to fill in the board with the other dessert items.

My 15-year-old commented that my board looks boring and that it needs to be filled in more, but I felt like there was enough sugar for one board, if you agree with her, you can fill it to the brim with desserts.
