Roasted Greek Lemon Chicken and Potatoes
Savory chicken with oregano cooks in a flavorful lemon olive oil marinade alongside tender roasted potatoes in this Roasted Greek Lemon Chicken and Potato recipe. A perfect dish to prepare for a weeknight dinner that the whole family will enjoy.
Growing up in a Greek household, lemony roasted chicken with potatoes was a weekly meal staple in our household, and for good reason! It’s delicious, easy to make, and easy on the budget, especially when you have to feed a large family.
The chicken and potatoes meal will set you back just $7.33 and serves 6 – so you’ll pay just $1.22 per serving! Here’s the math
- $4.35 for 4-5 lbs. of chicken leg pieces
- $1.64 for 4 Russet potatoes
- $1.50 for 2 lemons
- spices – $.50
- olive oil $.84
A Greek salad and some fresh bread from the Safeway bakery was a given in my household almost every night, so those sides made the roasted chicken a complete meal.

How to Make Roasted Greek Chicken & Potatoes
Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
In a medium bowl, whisk oil, lemon juice, oregano, garlic powder, salt, pepper and paprika.
Place the chicken and potatoes into a large roasting pan. Pour the lemon olive oil marinade over the top and toss to coat.
Add 1/2 cup water to the roasting pan. I like to add to the corner of the pan, to not disturb the seasoned chicken and potatoes.
Bake uncovered 60-70 minutes or until chicken and potatoes are done.
Baste chicken and potatoes several times during the roasting process. Broil last 5 minutes to crisp chicken and potatoes.
