Grilled Corn on the Cob – Perfect for $.19 Corn at Safeway

Grilled Corn on the Cob

There is nothing better than fresh grilled corn on the cob to accompany grilled meat at a BBQ.

We even take fresh corn on the cob camping with us because it’s amazingly easy to prepare over the campfire.

While you can also grill corn on the cob without the husks to get grill marks, I’ve found that the corn dries out and becomes too chewy when I grill without the husk.  If you want grill marks, you can grill it with the husk until almost done and then place back on the grill for just 2-3 minutes per side till you get nice charred grill marks.

Soaking your corn before you grill hydrates the outer husk so they don’t burn.   Leave the husks on when grilling so they steam the corn inside.  After you grill corn, you can store them in a cooler so they’ll stay warm, won’t dry out and keep their crunch.  You’ll want to wear a mitten when handling hot food straight off the grill to prevent burns.

I always loosen the husks after soaking and slather butter, garlic, salt, pepper and dried parsley on the corn before grilling in the husk.

This makes delicious and flavorful corn that you serve right after you remove the husk.

Corn is on sale at Safeway for just $.19 each through July 7th with a Just for U Digital Coupon, limit 6.

3 Steps to Grilling Corn on the Cob

1. Place corn in a bowl, covering with water. Let soak for 30-45 minutes. Remove from water and let dry for 5 minutes.

2. Place on medium-high grill (450°-475°) for about 15 minutes, turning corn 2-3 times during grilling. Remove from grill.

3. To remove husks, cut corn at the bottom end of the cob, cutting through the end of the cob. To serve, pull on the top end and slide the husk off the cob.
