Fall off the bone tender, these sweet and smoky BBQ Slow Cooker Country Style Ribs are the easiest way to enjoy ribs! Prepared with a dry rub and simmered in apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, and BBQ sauce braising liquid, the pork is infused with flavor that makes these finger-licking good!
Slow cooker meals are fabulous because you can prepare the meal in the morning before work and come home to a delicious meal and amazing aromas in your house.
We have a few pork country-style rib recipes on the blog, including an Instant Pot BBQ ribs version, a Carolina BBQ Country Style rib, and a Korean-BBQ style Country Style rib. I felt remiss by not having the version that I make the most, which is the crock-pot version. Easy to prepare and the kids love it!
Country-style ribs aren’t ribs at all, in fact, they are cuts of pork shoulder, which is most often used for making pulled pork.
For this recipe – we use a combination of a dry rub to add flavor to the meat as well as a prepared BBQ sauce that we infuse with apple cider vinegar and soy sauce to add depth of flavor to the ribs and help tenderize the meat. I used the O Organics Sweet & Spicy BBQ Sauce. It’s a full-bodied BBQ sauce with intensely smoky and sweet notes. It’s one of the best BBQ sauces on the market. I also like the Stubbs Sweet Heat BBQ sauce for this recipe.
Ingredients for Slow Cooker Country Style Ribs
The dry rub recipe for these ribs is a similar rub that I use in my baby back ribs.
- 2.5 lbs. country-style pork ribs (bone-in or boneless)
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- salt and pepper to taste
- pinch of cayenne pepper
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 cup BBQ Sauce
- parsley, minced for garnish (optional)
How to Make Country Style Ribs in the Crock-Pot
In a small bowl or plate mix together the seasonings to prepare the rub.
Rub the ribs on both sides with the seasoning mix. Place the ribs into the slow cooker.
Whisk together the BBQ sauce, apple cider vinegar, and soy sauce in a small bowl. Pour the sauce over the ribs.
Cook on high for 4-5 hours or on low for 6-8 hours.
Remove the ribs from the slow cooker and top with extra BBQ sauce and fresh parsley to garnish on the serving platter.
Sides for BBQ Ribs
BBQ Ribs can be served with a simple side of corn on the cob, some baked beans, a salad, potatoes, and cornbread. Here are a few of our favorite sides for country-style pork ribs. I served mine with an apple slaw and air-fried baby potatoes.

Easy peasy! I’ve always added the ribs and BBQ sauce to the slow cooker, but I tried the dry rub and it added a great flavor to be sure! The apple cider and soy sauce add a great flavor to the BBQ sauce. A keeper! Thanks for another great recipe.
